"I appreciate the help," he answered, "I'm totally useless when it comes to mechanics and things, so Janine saved me a call to a tow service and probably getting scammed by a shop somewhere."

"Where are you heading?" I asked.

"Well, I'm just kind of driving around, but I planned on going out to Denver after I checked out the Big Apple. Almost made it, too, until I started having this problem with the truck overheating. You know, see the sights of America before I settle down and buy a house somewhere."

Well, at least there he seemed to fit the mold for what I'd expected of him: not knowing how to add coolant to the radiator, and I doubted he'd even know how to change the oil. I wondered if he ever even looked under the hood.
