"So instead of rioting against it, I bought into the system, I invested heavily in stocks and bonds and savings accounts, I used the generous lines of credit that they companies had given to me. When something bothered me, to get my mind off of it, I’d spend money. When something made me happy, to celebrate, I’d go out and buy something expensive. If I was down in the dumps about something, I’d console myself by blowing a hundred bucks on a stranger at a bar. It didn't really matter, I knew, because I was making a lot of money and it would be easy enough for me to pay it all back. The craziest part might be that I never really thought about abusing my knowledge of hacking systems to get into teller machines or to break into banks during any of this. It just didn't cross my mind as a viable option - it seemed wrong and even criminal to even consider that sort of thing, even for a minute, even just for playing around."

He was a lot more honorable than I was, that was for sure. If I had the same skill sets at my disposal, I am sure that I would have cleaned out a few teller machines whenever I needed the cash for something, even if I just wanted to blow it at a strip club or gambling. But I was glad he'd be there to help us, and there was no moral debate involved. We had to do whatever it took to save her, as far as I was concerned. Even if that meant stealing from someone who might really need the money.

Hunter continued his explanation as to why he was on the road.

The rules are different, these days.
