A measure of time occurring just before intellectual or spiritual enlightenment.

I remembered what Janine had said about being already committed. I didn't come as far as I had for nothing. All of the late nights, the strange meetings, the weird trails that I'd followed: they all led up to whatever answers the woman in all black was about to provide. She gestured towards the glass doors on the left side of the room.

"What's behind those other doors?" I asked her, not expecting an answer.

"More rooms. A hallway that ends in the same place as the one that we're about take," she said, still gesturing. "Would you prefer to take the hallway on the right?"

"Actually," I said. "I don't care. I want to know what Synchro's level of involvement in my life's been over the past year. I want to know if your people can tell me how to find her." I assumed that she knew who I was talking about.

"Shall we?" she asked, her expression still neutral.

"I'm following you," I said, getting the door for her.
