What measure of faith does it take?

Where had Janine gone off to? Had she mentioned something about a vacation to see her family, or had I imagined that? I was too distracted by my own problems to remember. I knew she'd call back as soon as she could, anyway. Maybe she'd forgotten her cell phone when she left.

I started tidying up the house, putting more items into the trash, organizing all of the photographs and letters, the bills and books that I’d scattered across the floors, table, and countertops.

And then I found a business card that I didn't remember picking up. It must have been hers. I examined the card.

A small bird was printed on the face of the card, but it was hard to make out individual lines of detail, since the print was apparently done with a rubber stamp of some sort. The card's creator had used too much paint on the face of the card, and the bird print was smudged as a result of it. There weren't any other details on the card besides a name, printed impossibly small: SYNCHRO SYSTEMS

What a strange business card! Why would someone try to be so mysterious? Unless the recipient of the card already knew where the card came from, and it was only supposed to serve as a reminder to them...

It made a little bit of sense when I thought about it that way, given her memory problems and the kind of outside of the box thinking that she'd mentioned her doctor having a predisposition for. What was his name??

At least I had a place to start. Finally.
